Red Dirt Banjos and Art started in northeastern Oklahoma 2017 as a passion project for making handcrafted mountain banjos, boats and furniture. Now located in Tucson Arizona, Red Dirt Banjos provides handmade custom mountain banjos, engraved belt buckles, block prints, children’s book as well as art in a wide array of other mediums.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, I started learning carpentry at the age of six from my aunt who was working construction. I spent my youth learning how to build and design later honing my artistic side as a carpenter for film and theater. My great grandfather was a master carpenter, and both my grandfathers were lovers of music. I learned to combine those traits into my love of hand built instruments.
As a union member, craftsman, and musician I believe that both physical art and music have the power to shape culture and drive political movements. I use my work whether its block printing or hand carving instruments to express my passion for labor organizing and community building.
